Pnina Granirer: Portrait Of An Artist
Read a Review

In Pnina Granirer, Portrait of an Artist, Ted Lindberg captures the development in life
and art of one of Canada's finest painters. Over the past forty years, Pnina Granirer has
been exploring and extending her perception of the world around us with exuberantly
colourful and formally innovative paintgs and prints.

Lindberg analyzes in detail Granirer's art from her early years in Romania through her
student experiences in Israel to her mature works in Canada. He also reveals how Granirer's
recent work succesfully challenges the age old nature/ culture dichotomy and re-configures
the vision of the artist to include Woman in all her many guises.

Lavishly illustrated, the book contains 195 full colour pages of Granirer's finest paintings
with a special section devoted to her works as a print maker.

Departing Angel, a linoleum print in four colours  by Pnina Granirer, was conceived and cut  especially for this hardcover limited edition of 100. It was printed from the original blocks by Peter Braune, of New Leaf Editions on a Vandercook proofing press. The paper is Zerkall mould-made white wove. The edition of 100 is signed and numbered by the artist.
"Lindberg's thoughtful insights and superior writing skills are brought to bear in this analysis of
Pnina Granirer's artistic career. The ample and splendid illustrations form a backdrop against
which the writer's observations, critical reviews and diary quotations by the artist unfold.

This wonderful book tells the story of Granirer's continuing quest to find answers to life's most
important questions."  - Nicholas Tuele, Chief Curator, Art Gallery of Greater Victoria

"Lindberg gives recognition to a painter and printmaker who has consistently and imaginatively
used her heritage, her family life, and her spiritual discoveries to reveal the universal in the
         personal."  -Paula Gustafson, editor, Artichoke
